Dazzled by Science!
By Davey Boy
Hello All,
Been doing AV shows for a while and this one struck me as a fun project to build. The music has been an "earworm" of mine for years and decided that it was time to make something of it. As I volunteer in 2 science-related museums and am a believer in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) education, I believe this may be a fun way to encourage study in those areas.
Enjoy! Feedback always welcome
Cheers!

The Little fiddle
By Ingrid Gane
This audio visual was made for the sole purpose of getting to know PTE 9. This piece of music I fell in love with as a young child . . . such fun. Our AV club has monthly challenges and one of the subjects was "Animation" for witch you had to make photo's in Photoshop to sharpen editing skills. It was a fun exercise all round and the result was fun and the AV does not qualify for any competitions.
I have started a small AV enthusiasts club in Noosaville, Queensland Australia called, The Little AV Club. the aim of the club is to have fun, so there are no rules.

The Storm Season
Through a little good luck and a bit of planning my Son and I were out in the countryside during storm season on the Sunshine Coast of Australia. This storm appeared very quickly from a hot sunny day. My son had his Mavic Pro Drone and I was using my Canon SLR. These are the images that we captured, with just one or two others added from other photoshoots to make up the numbers.182 downloads

Red Balloons
Red Balloons was inspired by the music called Red Balloons by Katie Melua. Fortunately, by the time this music became available I had been to the Bristol Hot Air Balloon Fiesta in the UK many times over a number of years, so I did have a number of images to select from. Many of those used in flight had to be removed from their original backgrounds. This was achieved using Photoshop's Layers and Selections. The cut-outs also had to be done with a degree of patience and care. We needed to make sure the balloon baskets remained attached to the balloons by the fine cables that hold things together. Another problem is making sure that I didn't have any unsightly halos around the balloons after they were cut out.172 downloads

The Drones are Coming
This was a very quickly created slideshow with images shot from a Dji Mavic Pro Drone during a few weeks holiday in Australia by my son. The Mavic Pro is a great piece of kit that opens up enormous possibilities for photographers. Although it only captures 12mp, these images were all taken in Raw format.

Solari Board
Remember those displays they used to have at airports and train stations? The ones that used black flaps with letters on? They made a great noise as they clicked round. I wanted to amke one in PTE9. This is the result. Please ask questions or make comments! smokinggoldfish

Auschwitz [ Revisited ]
By Trailertrash
I first visited Auschwitz in 2009. In October 2017 I was invited to return as a guest of the Ayrshire [ Earl of Carrick's Own ] Yeomanry.
It was an offer I couldn't refuse. The museum has evolved by some margin and the communications between guide and visitors is now electronic. Brilliant.
However nothing can diminish the full impact of the horrors that took place there. I used the same soundtrack as in my 2009 version as it just seems to be the right piece for the presentation.
I have a feeling we'll be back...
